Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

Credibility of Source:
Author or Editor: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the editor.
The author of Animal Rights is Sunni Bloyd. She has had training living in Orange a city in Florida. She went to a University there and published more than two books about animal cruelty.
Attachment: Does the author or editor have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative?
This book is simply informative for all the readers to gain knowledge about animal abuse. So, that these readers can understand how serious this situation is. Also, so they can understand how cruel it is and go fight for it.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

Yes, I think that animal abuse should be immediately stopped. I think this because animals are just like humans and if you test out something on a dog it would the same thing on a human being meaning the same pain. If we don't want to be experiments to a lab test that means animals don't want to be experiments to a lab test.
Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?
I will use the examples from this story in my writing because it will help support my topic better. It will show my readers that animal experimentations are cruel. It will show them how testing products on animals is the same thing as testing products on humans.

Darrow says that he thinks the experiments where cruel instead of teaching students about dissection, such as, when he states "I thought that was that we has killed this animal to dissect it, and how little most of the students where learning"( Darrow 26).
Chimpanzees and humans have at least 98.5% of their DNA in common as Jared Diamond has called " The third chimpanzee" (Jared 53).
Most scientists use rodents primarily also rats and mice because they are cheap and readily available such as when they "reproduce quickly and are good models for many studies" ( Tom 56).
Jeremy Bentham argued that " The suffering of animals is not outweigh the good for humans" stating that the suffering of animals is worth as much as the suffering of humans ( Jeremy 57).

Interview Questions

What does this topic mean to you?
-animal abuse is a really braud topic and incompasses many different aspects , the first thing that comes to mind is that the first humane societies started off to serve children not animals. Animals were later brought in such as a difference from animal abuse and child abuse. Animal abuse goes beyond whether somebody loves an animal or does not.Children that were abused or if they grew up in that kind of society where there was animal abuse those are the people we see on the news. kids who throw rocks at the birds or shoot the cats with bibi guns. sometimes animal abuse is intentional or sometimes not intentional to the lack of education. Education is the key to solving all the worlds problem, which is an overwhelming problem.

How are you connected to this topic?
-As an animal shelter our whole purpose is to take care of animals that are rejejected by society for one reason or another. Animals who are rejected by their family due to behavioral issue or medical issue.  We will see sometimes animals that are breed in the backyards who cant sell or cant make money off of the puppies. Even though the animals have been in their home and considered a part of their family, they reject it because they cant make any money off of it anymore. We exist to be home served animals and the care they need to a home that can take them in and care for them. Statistics say that for every one pereson who is born three dogs are born to get rid of the over population a home owners should own three dogs but it is very overwhelming. Our soul mission is to give animals good homes with us or perferably a loving family in the community.

Do you have first-hand experience with the topic?
yes absolutely , unfortunately we see animals that have been abused on a daily basis.

How long have you been connected with/affected by this topic?
Ive been working in animal care for over 25 years, and i love my job and what i do for these abused animals.

Do you think this is a serious problem,or something that can be put off?
-It is a very serious problem, only because they are living creatures they should be respected and cared for, Animal abuse is directly linked to violence toward people which has to be paid attention to

What are your thoughts on how to improve the problem?
-Careness and awareness and the education is the key to the problem, and support the organizartions that help animal abuse and working to solve the problem.

What are your thoughts on the opposing views?
- if people dont see this problem then they are living under a rock. for example high school kids for their senior prank thought it would be cool to kill and torture animals and put their bodies around the school campus they thought it was funny and did that for their senior prank. that shows very sick minded individuals who dont care about the animals or have no concern over it. so those boys ended up to do community service at the animal shelter.

FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):

In Costa Rica the animal protection and rescue community are struggling to get the governments attention to "put an end to puppy mills"
They have footage of evidence of the illegal conditions the mills where put in such as they state " rat infested makeshift kennels covered with feces, no protection from weather extremes, no opportunities for exercise or socialization, mother dogs forced to whelp their pups in overcrowded dirt enclosures".
The SENASA group stops the rescuers to do the procedures to the mills when they rescue them because "of the bureaucracy or personal corruption".
IT shows how a dog whisperer comes in to speak with the animals and telling individuals "adopt don't shop", for people not to buy the puppies that are coming from the mills.
Costa Rica is telling us that they "will continue to work with groups inn Costa Rica to educate the public and put a stop to puppy mills in Costa Rica", as longs as others are involved the cause for the animals should begin to stop.

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):
This article talks about how in Cost Rica the animal protection and rescue community battles with the Costa Rican government to put an end to puppy mills. They even teamed up with LCA for help to obtain video footage. SENASA could not ignore the evidence of cruelty. They decided to do something about it.

FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
A “no contest” flea means that the judge can either find the individuals guilty or not guilty due to the cruelty of animals.
Judge is claiming that these individuals “cannot own dogs or they are not to be in the business of dogs”, since they are being put in crime of hurting these animals.
After seeing the footages that they have taken of the puppy mills the judge does rule in favor of the puppy mills when the LCanimals had their video evidence “immediately sent an undercover investigator to Oahu, with the goal of obtaining employment at the puppy mill”.
One of the LCA’s investigators took the time to living on the property and “working as a kennel attendant, documenting the cruel and dilapidated conditions there”, in order to cover the true story.
In the end the investigator did manage to have gathered video within 9 days showing “sick and injured dogs, dogs living in filth and isolation, bad breeding conditions, sloppy medical treatment, rodent infestation, and, for some puppies, death. Regarding the treatment of animals that die on the premises of Bradley Hawaiian Puppies”, in the end the people told him to wrap up the puppies and throw them in the trash bin so then others can come to pick it up.

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

This article shows how many cruelties there where in the past year. The judge is putting a company into the court as a “no contest”. David Lee becker was charged for animal cruelty for 153 counts.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?
The purpose of this site is to show other people what happens around the world and why we should stop animal abuse. The special investigation unite funds this website, so that viewers could be informed. To also show how communities are coming together to spread the word.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?
The site is basically only trying to inform viewers that animal abuse should stop. It is updating online viewers about what’s happening around the world that has to do with animal abuse.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?
IT is only favoring one side which is to help these poor animals. How many damages of animals are spreading throughout the world. Many are being counted on how many they have already abused.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?
They don’t state who the author is to know who actually wrote this article.
Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

I plan to use this source to support my opinion on how animal abuse should stop. I also think I could use this because my article is on animal abuse and this article has detailed information on animal abuse. This is how I plan to use this information on animal abuse.

FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
Animals deserve to be treated equal as human beings, they deserve help and friendship from their owners. As Lily states They are not any less important than others on this earth.”
Lily shares in this article that she has herself experienced seeing the way another individual who has abused an animal I have not ever abused a animal nor will I ever but I have witnessed it before”, stating she never will do such a hurtful crime to an animal but she will stop to what she has seen.
More than 300,000 thousand animals are killed each year. Animal owners don’t take responsibility for their actions and what they are doing. There are so many ways these animals are being abused as she states Whether it is they are tortured, burned, shot, stabbed or even worse mutilated”.
There isn’t a fatal reason why and individual should harm an animal their isn’t such an excuse people should have on why and how they did it, she also states that “Animals are usually only attack or harm if you harm them first or they got brought up under a abusive family.”
As the clears down the era no animal abuse should happen at all. That shouldn’t even cross anyone’s mind to do such a thing. Individuals should agree to “All animals deserve a healthy happy life help them get this any way you can.”

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):
More than 300,000 of all types of animals are, murdered every year due to animal abuse! Whether it is they are tortured, burned, shot, stabbed or even worse mutilated? More than half a million animals are tortured around the world!

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?
This article is simply to inform people on the website that animal abuse is horrible and cruel. Basically, this article was written to change the minds of animal abusers.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?
No the author stays true to her opinion and follows along with the source. It also interviews other individuals on how they perceive this issue and cause and how they will help solve this situation. As animal owners they should protect and care for their animals.
References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):

Many individuals take there in home anger out on the animals as a threat to the other individual. As in this article a man is telling his girlfriend if she doesn't pick up the phone on him he will beat the innocent dog. As the call continues the dog continues to cry and suffer in outrageous pain for someone else's anger. As he states "Everytime you don't pick up the phone , i am beating the dog''.
As police officers arrive at their house they find the pit bull puppy in a sink under cold water suffering as the dog developed a broken jaw. They say that "one of a growing number of serious animal abuse cases in Los Angeles where police and prosecutors say they are taking crimes against animals more seriously than ever".
They state "As a society,we're just less tolerant of unnecessary and unjustified cruelty to animals", stating that we need to be more aware of the harm these animals are getting because of the humans poor choices.
Animal cruelty has raised up the bars in the past few years. Lst year nearly 50% more than the previous year. More and more people tend to have no feelings towards these animals and don't know the consequences they will face because they find this as a joke to them and something very unnecessary in their lives.
Indiviudals feel as is animal cruelty isn't a crime as if you cannot go to jail or prison for harming an animal, as sources states that "None of the people we arrest think they could go to prison for hurting a dog or a car".  As one of the writers also stated "They don't show remorse…They're more shocked than surprised".

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):
This article is talking about the multiple cruelties they found amongst animals and in peoples homes. It has been found that people call in abusers and they get sent into prisons. LAPD has been working hard to send out a message and aware people of this case.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

The author is Jack Leonard. Los angeles funds this site by showing how the LAPD and district attorneys are handing the multiple cases of dogfighting and abuse towards animals.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

This article is mostly to point out to the readers of how much is going on and how the suffering for these animals continue. Showing how the LAPD is involved non stop to stop this case , also how individuals don't care as much for animals but own them at their houses but then again abuse them for personal issues. As the example given of that guy who's girlfriend didn't pick up but the dog took the blame for that situation.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?
Its more of a one side article it shows the cause and how the cause should be detected. This type of problem should be stopped because it is making the community and society look very bad. And how individuals more and more of them are ending up in jail for beating their animals

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?
No the author doesn't he clearly states the facts and the works that the officers do and the stories of more an more harms in the houses of individuals. Also how some people have no remorse in these animals. They think that their consequence is a joke and are shocked by the outcome.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?
This source helps my project because it shows how secretly things happen to animals in a safe environment they call home but then again these animals are beaten and kept cold by doing nothing. How not just the community but the LAPD works with this cause of animal abuse. And how the numbers on the charts are increasing and the source tells it should be decreasing but many indivulals don't seek this issue to help out.
